The problem
Immigrants preparing for the UK citizenship test faced scattered, unreliable prep material — practice tests that didn't match the real exam format, no structured revision path, and nothing built with non-native English speakers in mind.
Our approach
Designed and built the product solo in Next.js, React and TypeScript: exam-format mock tests, an AI tutor for follow-up questions, spaced-repetition flashcards for weak topics, and the interface translated into 14 languages so the language itself isn't the barrier.
The outcome
A freemium SaaS product now used by 300+ people, with paid subscriptions from £2.99/week.
One thing we'd do differently
Given more runway, the analytics layer — which questions people actually get wrong — would have been built in from day one instead of retrofitted later.
